Despite the rapid advances in digital dentistry, patients will still have to sit in the treatment chair for a dental procedure in the real world – no avatar will be able to do that for them. Yet the vision of the virtual patient is moving within our grasp.

The first step towards creating virtual patients was to combine CAD/CAM with 3D x-ray data. Using the unique process of integrated implantology, Sirona has made it possible to integrate a virtually constructed dental restoration into a 3D x-ray image. With the GALILEOS integrated FaceScanner, another building block has now been added.

The result: A true-to-life representation of the anatomical structures of the face, teeth and bones. The resulting virtual "mirror image" helps dentists plan therapy and makes the treatment clearly understandable for patients.
